R1 Candy Boy

In the 1981, a horse by the name of Super Kris raced at Monticello Raceway, the gelding failed to post a win in 93 consecutive starts. The Modern era version of Super Kris is Candy Boy, this afternoon Candy Boy notched just his second lifetime win in 109 starts.  Candy Boy went to the front, stayed there the entire mile, and held on for the win and earned a new lifetime record of in 2:01.3 – $8.00; Richard Harp drove him to the win. The 9-year-old roan gelded son of Marcello Kosmos is trained by Peter Lutman Jr. and is owned by Michael E Rose of Peeskill, NY.

Greg Merton lead all drivers with three wins on the card, 2 came with Rich Campolong mounts and the other aboard Cyclone Maximus 2:00.2 – $2.50, he almost won 4 but was nosed out in the finale.

Richard Campolong bagged another training double this afternoon with Wishful Mir (Greg Merton) 1:59.3 – $4.20 and with Princess Brisa (Greg Merton) 1:56.2 $10.40. The 2 wins places Campolong tied in tenth position with Ken Koch with 14 wins.

Magical Lily Bear 1:56.3- $3.540 notched her fifth win on the year for Brandon and Zeke Parker.
