Pierre Bovay Takes Open Trot with Emma Town Bud

The afternoon’s $6,500 Open Trot saw Emma Town Bud and Pierre Bovay play a little hard ball with Home’N Dry (Aldrich Jr.) and stretched him in the brisk open panel of 27.4 before letting him make the front end.  Going to the half (58.1) Patrick Hanover (M. Merton) was the first to pull with Consus Victory (DiBenedetto) right on his heels.  Midway through the paddock turn Bovay tipped his mount and took aim on the tempo setting Home’N Dry and trotted right on by him to a conclusive score in 1:58.3, Itsoneofthose (Schwartz) was second and Home’N Dry taking the show position.  The winners is trained, driven and partially owned by Pierre Bovay, the son of Big Stick Lindy notched his third win of the year, 3 wins in his last 3 starts.

Trainer Anthony Regina recorded a double by taking the first race of the day with Bargain Bid (J. Devaux) 2:00 – $8.20 and then with the 63-1longshot Ea Perfect Wish (J. Taggart Jr.) 1:59.2 -$129.50, Hes Really Keen (M. Merton) made it 2 in a row after his convincing 6 length romp in 1:57.2 – $2.80, he is trained by Jody Dunning who is having an excellent winter meet at the Mighty M, with 14 wins on his score card, which places him in the fifth spot for leading dash winning trainers.

Backster, a 3-year-old son of Huntsville, notched his first win on the year for the combo of Jim Taggart Jr. and Gary Messenger in 2:01.1 – $3.80.
