Patient Smart Talker takes Open Pace

This week’s Open Pace was a short field of 6 with the scratch of Feelin America, when the gate left it was Hestons Lucky Chip and Better Up taking turns for the lead before the opening panel of 28 with Heston showing the way.  Trevor One (Brandon Parker) the 4/5 got underway at the half in 57.3 with HLC still on top down the back side the second time around they were 3 in and 3 out with Trevor One on the outside taking the outside air passing the next station in 1:26.

Smart Talker who started from post 2 patiently bided his time at the rail saving ground, in mid-stretch Greg Merton had him in high gear along the rail to get past the leaders in 1:55.4 Better Up finished second followed by Hestons Lucky Chip. Smart Talker is trained by Art Green, the son of Well Said earned his fifth win of the year for owner William E. Emmons.

Eataams Trauma 1:57.3 – $2.60 (Huckabone) made it 2 in a row for trainer Marianna Monaco, it was one of Huckabones driving doubles, the other with Daamericansky  156 – $4.00 for trainer Andrew Adamczk who currently sits in 4th place for leading dash winning trainers.

Jim, Shane & Amy Lynn Taggart teamed up for respective doubles on the day, the training double vaults Shane into second place behind with 24 wins behind Gary Messenger with 27 and overtaking Laura Aldrich with 22.

On yesterday’s card, Scotlynn Seelster registered her eighth win on the year for Owner, Trainer and Driver Fredrick Bourgault to become the winningest horse on the grounds.  Wonder Of Love leads the nation with 10 wins.
