With the advent of seasonal halt in racing at Yonkers Raceway, Race Secretary Eric Warner had an influx of the out of town invaders in the box in the last 2 weeks, as evident in this week’s Open Pace there were a few new faces.

The $6,500 Open Pace, Don Domingo N (G. Merton) cut the mile with speedy splits of 28.1 & 54 on a off track.  The field was single file until the half when Sauvignon Bluechip (Moeykens) and Caviart Reagan (Aldrich Jr.) got underway with Don Domingo still showing the way. Down the backstretch the outer flow continued to advance as they hit the next panel in 1:26.4, Sauvignon Bluechip made a big move around in paddock turn, he was pushed wide as the favorite Rolling with Sam who was bidding his time with a perfect 2 hole journey came off the wood to take aim at Don Domingo. Rolling With Sam hit another gear (LQ 27.3) and surprisingly caught the leader, Sauvignon Bluechip finished third. Rolling with Sam, is a 6 year old son of Roll with Joe, he is owned by Morrison Racing Stable and is trained by Andrew Adamczyk.

The race for leading trainer is nip and tuck, Laura Aldrich had 1 winner on the day, she and Gary Messenger are now tied with 88 wins a piece with 2 more racing dates left in the season, Greg Merton and Jimmy Devaux each scored a pair of driving wins this afternoon

The handle remained strong this afternoon with a $71.300 per race average for total handle of $642.420.
