Cinco Senorita Wins Jeff Hinckley Memorial – Jim Taggart Jr. Approaching 2 Milestones

The afternoon’s 6th race was the Jeff Hinckley Memorial, Jeff sadly passed away last week after a short illness, Jeff was a long-time caretaker in the backstretch of Monticello Raceway for 25 years where he worked for Art Green. On hand in the winner’s circle was Jeff’s brother Scott and his lovely wife to present the trophy to the winning connections which was won by the favorite Cinco Senorita (G. Merton) in a wire-to-wire winning effort in 1:56.3 – $3.90 for owner trainer Marianna Monaco, it was the aged mares sixth win on the year and her fastest mile of the year.

Jim Taggart Jr is marching on his way to career win 6,000, In addition to that milestone, he is also in pursuit of surpassing career earnings more than $30,000,000, presently he has $29,936,509, Going into today’s card the 54-year-old driver needs only 11 wins to hit the 6,000 mark, during the day he picked up 2 driving wins aboard Infinity Seelster and Chaperidge,  leaving him just 9 wins short of 6,000.

Pinebush Sweetlife (Aldrich Jr.) won her first race of the year after 11 unsuccessful tries for owner – trainer Wesley Miller in 1:57.2 – $4.20.
